Church

Yesterday was Bannock's first day at church. We were only about 10 minutes late, which I think is REALLY good considering church is at 8am & Bannock didn't go to bed until 1am. So we were all a little low on sleep, but it was good to go back to church! Bannock slept through sacrament meeting with only a few loud grunts. He's a major grunter! And he usually grunts when it gets quiet. We didn't go to Sunday school, but Bannock slept all the way through Relief Society. Matt & I actually kinda fought over who got to take him for the last hour of church. Obviously I won cause I'm the mom! :) And of course Bannock grunted everytime it got quiet in Relief Society. Here are some pictures of us after church right outside our apartment door.

Bannock LOVES to sleep on his belly. We only let him do it for naps while we're watching him. He looks so cute curled up in a ball though!

Seasiders

Last night we went to our first BYU-Hawaii Seasiders basketball game of the season! We went to most games last season & really enjoyed it, so we were excited to go back for some more action. Last night they played Fiji. We ended up winning by a long shot, but it was still a fun game. Bannock slept like a rock through all the noise! We even sat right next to the buzzer & even that didn't wake him up!
After the game we went with some friends to the game room on campus to play some ping pong. I haven't played ping pong for SO long! It was a lot of fun. And once again, Bannock slept through the loud music & screaming. It was great!
We walked out of the game room to head home & there was a thunder/lightening storm. I love thunder & lightning, but not when I have to walk home in all the rain. Needless to say, we walked really fast & then enjoyed the thunder & lightning from the apartment! That was our Friday night. Tonight BYU-H is playing China. We're still deciding if we want to go or not. We have church at 8am & didn't get home until midnight last night.
And of course I don't want to blog without a picture, so here are a couple random pictures of our adorable Bannock! We sure are attached to this little guy!

And here is a little sneak peak of a photo shoot our friend did! I can't wait to get the pictures back!

Another visitor

This is old news, but with the chaos with Bannock coming a little early, I never got to blog about it. Anyway, Matt's brother came to visit us in Hawaii. He got to stay for 2 weeks. It was probably a little boring for him for the first week. I was still working & Matt was at school all day. The 2nd week was more productive though. We were able to use our friends car for a few days, so that was fun. We all got to play tourists. We felt bad for Shorty the last couple of days he was here. He got to help us with our white glove cleaning. And then on his last full day here he got to spend the whole day in the waiting room in the hospital! And the worst part...he missed baby Bannock by about 7 hours! We enjoyed having Shorty here & look forward to seeing him again in just a few weeks! We have more visitors coming next week & even more the week after that. We're very excited!

We went snorkling at Haunauma Bay. The water was pretty choppy so it wasn't great, but it was still fun. Snorkling at 38 weeks pregnant is a little challenging though, so I didn't last too long.

We also went to a place called Pali lookout. It was beautiful! These are the last pictures I took before Bannock was born. I was just over 38 weeks I think.

Bath Time!

Bannock's umbilical cord fell off last week (11-4-09...his due date). So a couple days later we decided to try giving him his first 'real' bath. At first he loved it. He liked just sitting & hanging out in the water. As soon as I started actually washing him, he started to freak out! He's not a big fan of water on the head/face! Once we were done & we calmed him down, he was SO relaxed! And he slept SO good that night! Bath time might become a nightly routine! Enjoy the pictures! Oh yeah...don't judge us for bathing him in a little bucket...no point in buying a bath for him when we'll be moving in 6 weeks! :)

Bannock William Boyce

10/27/09...6:44 pm...7 pounds 8 ounces...20.5 inches long
I've been informed by MANY that it is time for a blog update. So here goes nothin! First of all I'm excited because I just put my wedding ring back on! Woohoo!

Birth Story
Okay, so Sunday night (10-25-09) I had TERRIBLE pains in my hip & back. I've had back pain my whole pregnancy, but this was WAY worse! I couldn't lay down. I literally sat in bed ALL night long. Didn't sleep at all. I watched the sun rise & it was beautiful. Anyway, so Monday morning I was hoping the pain would be gone, but no such luck. I decided to call the Dr. just to make sure it was normal. The Dr said that it could be the onset of labor, so she wanted me to make the HOUR drive to the hospital to be evaluated. At that point I felt dumb because I was sure it was nothing & I was sure we were gonna drive all the way there to hear that I'm just a pansy!
When we got to the hospital I got hooked up to monitors & the nurse took my vitals. As soon as she took my blood pressure she got really nervous & had the Dr come see me. Long story short, my blood pressure was REALLY high (I was on the verge of preeclampsia my whole pregnancy) and they decided to keep me in the hospital & induce me. Monday night at 6 pm they started me on cervidil. It's supposed to be in for 12 hours but mine fell out at midnight. They were going to start me on pitocin then, but they decided to have me sleep. So 6am on Tuesday morning they started me on pitocin. I started to feel some contractions, but they just felt like cramps. This continued until 1pm. I was feeling great! I was up walking laps in the hall, on the birthing ball in the jacuzzi! Just loving life & thinking that labor isn't as bad as people say. When they came to check me at 1 I had not progressed at all. 7 hours on pitocin & nothing! So they broke my water at 1:30pm. The first contraction I had after they broke my water I felt like I was going to die! Matt was laughing really hard because it was seriously like night & day! I was not loving life anymore! I was able to bear the pain for about an hour. Then I asked for some drugs in my IV. That worked for about 30 minutes, then I was asking for my epidural!
I finally got my epidural at 3:30 pm. I was STILL at 2 centimeters! And I'm sad to say that the epidural gave me NO relief! From 3:30 to 5:00 is a huge blur! All I know is that at 5:00 Bannocks heartrate dropped down to about 50. So I had all the nurses running in trying to move me & put me on oxygen. It was really scary, but they got his heartrate back up. They decided to check me again & I was at 10 centimeters!!! So I went from a 2 to a 10 in an hour & a half! Happy day!
Then it was time to push. It took a few contractions to get the hang of it, but once I did, the nurse left the room & it was just Matt & I! They came to check on us every now & then, but it was nice to be just the 2 of us. Matt was an AMAZING coach! Seriously, words cannot describe how wonderful he was!
So an hour & 45 minutes later (6:44 pm) Bannock William Boyce was born! 7 pounds 8 ounces. 20.5 inches long. They placed him on my chest & I just started crying! I only got to hold him for about 5 seconds because I was losing too much blood! Bannock stayed in the room so I could see him, but I just wanted to hold him! I was on the verge of a blood transfusion, but the Dr finally got the bleeding to slow down. It took her over an hour to stitch me up. Then I got to hold my little guy again! It was the most amazing feeling ever!!! As I was pushing I told Matt that we would be adopting the rest. But as soon as I got to hold Bannock I told him that I would go through that again! It was ALL worth it!

1 Week Checkup
So we have had Bannock home for a week now. Life is great! He is the best baby ever! We are definitely spoiled & we hope it continues! Bannock eats like a champ! And he sleeps great too! He wakes up twice at night to eat, then goes right back to sleep! At his 1 week checkup yesterday, the Dr & nurse kept going on & on about what a good baby he is! When we brought Bannock home from the hospital he was exactly 7 pounds. 6 days later at his checkup he was exactly 8 pounds. He gained a pound in 6 days. The nurse double checked her scale to make sure it wasn't broken. But like I said, he eats like a champ! :) Everything else was good at his checkup. We have a very healthy, handsome guy & we love him!

Baby Shower!

When I told my friend Vicki that I was pregnant (back in April or May), she called dibbs on throwing my baby shower. She has seriously been planning it since then! And it definitely showed. The baby shower was well planned out & a lot of fun! Vicki did an awesome job!
I'm so blessed with LOTS of great friends! We had a total of 20 people at the shower. It was really hot, but really fun! Thanks to everyone who made it to the party to celebrate this little guy getting ready to come into the world!
I don't feel like writing captions for each picture, and I'm sure you're smart enough to figure everything out! :)

Happy Birthday to Matt!

Matt had a birthday. A week ago. He turned 25! We celebrated his birthday the day before, since his birthday fell on a Sunday. Saturday morning we totally just relaxed & took it easy! (My kind of day!) Then Saturday afternoon we loaded up the car to head to town for dinner. We've been using our friends car while they're on the mainland. It has been SOO nice! Anyway, it's a Ford Crown Victoria. In other words...it's a HUGE car! haha There were 3 couples going to dinner & we didn't want to split up, so all 6 of us piled into the car. It was a little tight, but it was a lot of fun!
Matt wanted to go to Cheesecake Factory for dinner. So that's exactly what we did! We had an hour wait, so we walked around Waikiki while we were waiting. We went into the international market. It was fun! We hadn't been there before!
This is the face I usually get when I tell Matt we're taking a picture. Usually I make him keep taking pictures until I get a good one...but I've decided to just be happy with goofy pictures, since that's his personality!

Then our buzzer went off for a table at Cheesecake Factory. Oh happy day, because we were starving! Dinner was SOOO yummy! And we had a great time visiting with our friends!
Friends Michael & Haley

Friends Steve & Lauren

Matt & I

Our cute waitress brought out a little treat for Matt & we sang happy birthday to him. I'm pretty sure everyone in the room was singing! It was so loud!

Then on Sunday night, Matt's actual birthday, we had friends come over for brownies & ice cream. We had lots of fun visiting with everyone! Then we played some games. It was a fun weekend! Thanks to everyone who helped make is such a fun birthday weekend for Matt!

December 21, 2009

That is the date we fly into Washington. We bought our tickets & I'm so excited! I've got a countdown going! Most of you are probably going to laugh, because I'm counting down to the day when we leave Hawaii! Strange, I know, but it's true. Don't get me wrong, we have enjoyed ourselves here & have made lots of amazing friends that we will miss like crazy, but we're getting Island Fever! Here are a few things that we are looking forward to the most!

We have tons of family & friends that live in or near Washington. We can't wait to see everyone & catch up with them!

This is probably the 2nd most exciting thing! We don't really want the car to look like this when we get back, but if it does, that's fine! We're just so excited to have a car again! We've been on this island for about a year without a car. It's been challenging at times, but we've got awesome friends that either let us borrow their car, or take us where we need to go. It's been a HUGE blessing!

Okay, you probably think we're pathetic, but we're very excited to eat at these 2 places! They don't have Olive Garden or Red Robin here in Hawaii, yet they play commercials for them ALL the time! And then I just crave it like crazy! I already told my mom that we want to go straight to Red Robin after we fly in! :)

We are very excited to go to the temple again! We live maybe 1/4 of a mile from the temple here, but it's closed for construction. We love to see the temple, but we can't wait to go back inside!

We are excited to be COLD! Laugh all you want. I think it's quite humorous myself! We have been hot & sweaty for a LONG time! I know we'll get sick of the cold really fast, but while we're braving through a Hawaiian summer, we dream of being cold!

So there are a few things that we're looking forward to with our move back to the mainland. Now for a few things that we'll miss here on the island. Because we will definitely miss it here & dream of coming back to paradise!

This is only a few of our friends, but we have made a lot of friends that we will miss like crazy! We're already making plans with some friends to meet up next summer sometime on the mainland! I wish I had a pictures of all our friends, but here's an idea.

I have hundreds of beach pictures, but that's another huge thing we'll miss. It only takes us a few minutes to walk down to the beach. And the drive to Honolulu is right along the coast. It is so beautiful & we will miss seeing the ocean everyday!

Wearing shorts & t-shirts & flip flops EVERYday has been realy nice & we will miss it when we go back to Washington in the middle of Winter!

Hawaii is such a beautiful place. We will miss all the awesome plants/trees/flowers! So there are a few things we will miss about Hawaii. We definitely want to come back & visit a few years down the road when we actually have money!

4th of July

I'm only about a week & a half late, but I thought I'd share our 4th of July adventure! Our friends Mike & Nichole informed us that the school had shuttle tickets to Honolulu for 2 bucks each. They told us they were going, & invited us to go along. So Saturday afternoon we went to campus & jumped on a big, yellow school bus. Brought back good memories! Anyway, we got to Honolulu & hung out for a few hours before the big firework show. We enjoyed just sitting & relaxing in the shade, & getting to know our friends better. As it started getting dark we moved down to the beach. The beach was packed! But the show was amazing! We really enjoyed it & we're glad our friends invited us along! Enjoy the pictures!

I made Matt dress all festive with me!

It was amazing to watch the fireworks over the ocean & see the reflection! And the smiley face firework was by far my favorite!

Here we are relaxing in the sand, enjoying the show!

It's a...........................

Okay, I've been waiting for a LONG time to write this blog! Finally the joyous day has come! Anyway, our exciting news.....we're having a BOY! We are so thrilled! And the best news...he is one healthy little boy! Actually, not so little. My first due date was Nov 14th & each appointment I have they seem to push up my due date. This boy is growing fast! My new due date is Nov 3rd! But he is healthy & all his little organs are working great!
I'm adding a few pictures of our little guy. I know to most of you this means nothing because they're blury & not the best quality, but to us...it means the WORLD! Oh yeah, and my 20 week picture! Half way mark! So exciting. It's a week & a couple days late though. Enjoy!

I know you can't really see it, but this is his foot. On the screen it was really clear, but didn't turn out so great in the picture.
